I typed this whole thing once already only for all of it to get deleted. I’m ticked but for you, my loyal following of 10 people, I’m going to type this thing again, but with more anger than the first time, and I’m only talking about what I want to.
1. Windham is awesome: He went crazyballs and jumped a stupid transfer. Then he went and matched Stewart’s crazy jump combos and hung right with JS7. AndthenStewartcrashedinthewhoopsandtookKWouttothesurpriseofnone. Look at Windham’s transfer below. It is no wonder he wasn’t scared to do Bubba combos.
2. Cronies: Seely better be glad that his contract with TLD HONDA is already signed because I am willing to be Honda would love to send him packing. Seely, along with Kyle Cunningham were roadblocking like crazy for their boy Broc TIckle. I’m not even going to say it was “just racing.” Nope, they were in Tickle’s corner and I would say that to anyone’s face. Tickle did not have the speed to beat Tomac without help. Plain and simple. The big celebration between the 36, 35 and 20 after the race simply confirmed what was obvious on the track. Fortunately for Tomac, he gained a lot respect and fans while the others certainly lost the same.
3. Stewart finds a way: While he didn’t find a way to win the championship or stay upright on hardpack soil, JS7 found a way to get a lot of attention. His glasses were straight from the spirit of Steve Urkel. I’m not sure what kind of fashion statement Stewart was trying to make at Vegas, but it looks like he is trying to promote a preppy- moto-hipster look.
“It’s been about pride all year long.” - James Stewart
QUOTE OF THE YEAR: Jerry Richards via facebook.
Me: Come on JS7 fans! Let’s hear the What-ifs! Get them out of your systems now.
Jerry: So I was just a wonderin’……..what if Stewart rode the track BACKWARDS, head on into the other competitors???? Could he take out more people than he did racing in the same direction? My guess is no, he couldn’t.
I’ve known about this for years. I’m just glad to see that some professional trainers are making it known. You have to have extra protein to rebuild muscles. It’s that simple. Click the link above or check out the article here .
This here is Tony Weiss. He likes to ride bikes.
Yes, I made this video. Bring it, haters.
You can’t argue with success.
My friend Matt Dimitroff made this video, and I gotta say, I like it. He’s about to graduate from high school, and, in my opinion he would be way ahead of the game if he went to, oh, say journalism school at oh, say, Mizzou. Anyway, I’d love to see what his stuff looks like after four years of every video being put under a microscope. I’d say he’d be able to write his own ticket. Does he have some things to learn? Definitely. But like I said before, you can’t argue with success. Matt has been recruited to do some shooting for MXPTV.com and this vid landed on Vurbmoto.com so I’d say he’s well on his way.
Oh and as for the guy in the video, Bubba Pauli, he seems like a nice guy. I’ve raced with him once at an arenacross in Columbia, Mo. He ate poop in the whoops and took me with him and broke some spokes in my front wheel, but hey, I ain’t mad at ya! Stuff happens.
And a few weeks ago he said he liked this blog so croneyism is in full swing here, folks.
Well, it’s too late to say anything new about Seattle. And because we have a week off, I’ve decided to post a little something different. I’ve been working on this little diddy for a class.
First of all, I have to talk about one MAJOR problem I had in St. Louway.
Somehow, Row L is the only row of seats in the Edward Jones Dome that does not, I repeat, does NOT have cupholders. Row K has them. Row M? You betcha, but row L does not and I am not a fan of sitting my Siera Mist on the ground.
Ok, by now you probably know that St. Louis, which has had some sort of craziness happen every year since the beginning of time, was the most boring race of the season. Someone needs to get Travis Pastrana back on designing a track or something…
You also might know that James Stewart cried on the podium. I didn’t see it in person because I was getting the heck to my truck and out of the parking garage!
Giving it up
I want to dedicate this post to what might be the most common phrase in motocross:
“Give it up.”
Dungey is always “giving it up” to his team. That crazy guy with the mic is always telling us to “give it up” for whoever won the race.
But I am always left wondering what the “it” is. This phrase is abused.
Sometimes, my friends just can’t beat me at “Words with friends” and I tell them they should “give it up.” In this case, the it is defined as “attempting to do the impossible.”
I’m also implying that my competitors should quit, which is definitely not what Dungey is telling his team to do. However, even if he was, that would be better than option number two:
I’ve heard that when some women really like a man, sometimes, they’ll give it up.
… … …
So, Mr. Dungey and Mr. Supercross announcer guy, let’s get more specific. If you want us to cheer, say so. If you want to give credit to your team, then do it. But let’s stop giving it up or I’m going to give up giving it up. So just give it up.
Two weeks ago I said that Trey Canard would win in Dallas. And he did. If you would like my advice before you visit your bookie again, I’ll give it for a small fee.
By this time you’ve probably seen the race or read a report. So I’m not even going to try to add to that. If you haven’t, I’m posting the race below.
What I am going to do is go all journalist on you and ask a question that is very obvious to me:
How the heck does CBS not mention James Stewart’s arrest on television? Maybe they did for a moment, but from what I watched they said nothing about it. CBS actually wants ratings does it not? They already show 30 minutes of “pit pass” crap because they think it will attract new viewers more than heat races will.
And here we have a big news story where the biggest name in the sport gets arrested for impersonating a police officer and there is no mention of it.
Am I crazy here or would that not grab attention a little more than showing some autograph lines and hearing Dungey “give it up” to his team?
Geezy pete, I sound like every other moto-journalist out there now. For that matter, let me throw out some more moto-journalism clichés and topics:
1. We need to learn from NASCAR.
2. I wonder what ever happened to “laying wood.”
3. Why are teams so secretive about rider/bike problems?
4. Where is J-Law and what does he think of James Stewart’s street cred?
5. DID RALPH SHAHEEN REALLY JUST SAY THAT STEWART’S BIKE IS SORT OF A PRIVATEER BIKE AND CHAD REED’S IS COMPLETELY PRODUCTION-BASED!?!?!??!??!?
I try to give TV people a break when I can, but you would think after this many years of being around motocross that Shaheen would at least learn some things by accident. So for those of you who don’t know, Chad Reed’s bike is not like Jared Jet Browne’s. At all. I promise he is getting some stuff from factory Honda.
This week is a little late and a little bit different. MXPTV is a motocross website that covers a big chunk of the amateur racing world, and Ben Lynn asked yours truly to do this week’s podcast with him!
We talk about all kinds of stuff including JAMES STEWART’s ARREST. Check it out by clicking the link above.
